Subletting Procedures

Step 1: Print/Download the CHT Subletting Checklist

Print/download the CHT Subletting Checklist below to use as a guide during your subletting agreement process.

Step 2: Notify Management of your intent to sublet

Notify the CHT Management of your intent to sublet via email, phone and/or in person at one of our office locations.

Step 3: Advertise Your Apartment

Advertise your apartment on various platforms including social media, UW-Housing websites, flyers, bulletin boards, words of mouth, etc. Once you find someone, notify CHT via email (either through text or email)including the name of the Sublessee and their phone and email. **We recommend you take high quality photos and videos of your apartments as CHT will NOT advertise or show your apartment for you**

Step 4:  Send Application Form Link

Notify CHT to send your potential Sublessee the link to your unit’s application to apply. Please note, CHT does not require an application from a cosigner for subleasing. However, the Lessee from which you are subleasing, may require one if requested.

Step 5: Create Your Sublet Agreement

Please refer to CHT Subletting Checklist for information needed to create the agreement. You create all terms and conditions, please communicate to CHT what you would like included in the agreement. Please assure you are giving CHT enough time to complete the agreement. Do not expect sublets to be done in under three business days.

Step 6: Contact CHT Management with Your Subleasing Terms

Once the agreement/terms have been made contact CHT Management to put together all requested terms and conditions into an official agreement.

**Reminder when subletting your apartment you, the original Lessee, remains responsible to the Lessor for all of the obligations contained in your Lease Agreement. That means you are responsible for the rent that is due and for any/all damages to the premises when occupied by your sublessee**
